I finally gave in and paid iRepair Squad $20 to ship back my console and now seven days later they still have not shipped the console. I have informed iRepair that I recorded the serial number and they need to send back the correct console or I will sue them for fraud. I am wondering if they actually have my original console. I can't wait to see what they send back to me because I have a feeling I will finally have the upper hand in this dispute.
Also, I am still waiting for ratepoint.com to publish my complaint. I am also suspect to them now because they informed they would published review and I have not seen my review. But, I do not pay them so much money a month to publish reviews. So why would they care?

Day...Whatever, iRepair is not honoring warranty
What I believed to be coming from iRepair happened to me yesterday. I have read other people's stories where they explained that they sent their ipod or whatever to iRepair to only find out they hold your property for ransom. So, if I want to get back my Xbox 360 that I have already paid $239 plus shipping, plus $29 for the extended warranty, I will still have to pay more for a console that does not work! My plan is to get the unit back and list it on craigslist and get the going rate for a broken xbox and use the money to purchase a new console with HDMI from Circuit City for $299.
Below is my history of dealing with iRepair and please note the lie I caught them in because they could not collaborate their stories between Rate Point and BBB.
warning - this company is a scam. i purchased an xbox 360 from irepair squad and paid extra for an extended warranty this past june. first, the av hd component cable would not switch between standard tv and hdtv. i thought no big deal i can buy a new one for $20, but in less than two weeks from receiving game console it stopped working with the three red ring of death. i finally received a shipping label to send back and was informed that i voided the warranty because the warranty seal was broke. my first response is why would i try to fix or tamper with it since i paid extra money for the extended warranty and second, how could i prove this was not the case. then i realized this is a scam. they sell you consoles that don't work and then they don't honor warranties. buyers beware...do not purchase an xbox 360 from irepair squad.

Gary, We here at iRepairSquad to honor our warranties on the Xbox360's as long as the warranty stickers are still intact. We have two warranty stickers inside the unit and both of yours were broken. To break them either someone has to forcefully open the casing or even drop the unit causing enough trauma to the Xbox that it would break both seals. As you were told over our live chat program we are unable to honor the warranty on yours, if you wanted the unit to be repaired you would need to pay for the repairs. We are not a scam, nor is there need to accuse us as such.

Please understand, I DID NOT TAMPER WITH THE CONSOLE! Why would I spend almost $300 for a game console that I can buy new for not that much more money? I purchased from iRepair for two reasons. 1) You had an extended warranty and 2) you modify the console to make it better and not just repair the console. If you are not a scam then we need to have an actual conversation. You stated that the seals could have broken because of trauma. What if the seals broke during shipment? The console obviously had a problem because it only worked for two weeks. Possibly it came this way and it took two weeks to stop working. I did encounter within the first couple of uses where the console just shutoff with no warning. I did not think anything about it because I powered the console back up and I was able to continue playing. Can someone please call me and discuss because I did not tamper with the unit. If you are not a scam then please call me.
UPDATE:I was just updating my blog and noticed something interesting. The reply from irepair via the BBB stated from this person "I have seen the issue at hand" and "We received the unit back into us and all three of these sticker have been tampered with in a blatant way." This is not consistent with the statement provided here. I also spent a good 30 minutes today trying to contact anybody at irepair via the toll free number with no luck.

Unfortunately the person who wrote the first reply was unaware that there was also a warranty sticker on the motherboard. The best way to contact us is through the chat system during our hours of operation. Also yes we do have an extended warranty, and like any company once we notice the stickers have been tempered with we are unable to assist with any warranty repairs, and therefore your unit is out of warranty. Many companies so this, even Microsoft will tell you the same thing if you bought it from them and their warranty stickers were broken.

So what is the next step? If the seals are actually broken then it happened during shipment. What is your policy for that?

Gary,
Due to how the stickers are broken we are forced to believe that is not the case. Unfortunately as we stated before we are unable to do the repairs under warranty.

I do not have that login information. Please provide me with the information of who I need to send the FedEx label to. I will pay for the shipping myself. Just tell me who I need to send it to.
Also, I have the serial number of the console I sent. If this is not the same console I will sue you for fraud and press criminal charges.

I received an email from Mr. Suits and the login and password does not work. However, this is not what I requested unless I am suppose to send Mr. Suits the prepaid shipping label.

iRepair Squad Scam - Day 2
Okay, I received a rather quick response from my compliant filed with the BBB in Peoria. However, it was not a satisfactory reply from iRepair (see below).
“I have reviewed the case and I have seen the issue at hand. All of our units are sent out with measures to ensure that no customer tampers with our products. One of these measure would be multiple warranty stickers. We place one on the internal DVD drive, one on the motherboard, and one on the casing. We received the unit back into us and all three of these sticker have been tampered with in a blatant way. We have these stickers in place to protect us and you can see that many other companies, large and small, use the same measures on their products. We cannot refund this customer because of this issue. We have these policies in place and the policy was agreed to on purchase. The same policy is in place with a brand new Xbox 360 unit and the sticker on the case is in the same place. If anything else is needed please feel free to get back in contact with us. Thank you and have a great day!”
Does anybody have a suggestion on how to deal with this? I honestly did not tamper with the console and I am completely at the mercy of iRepair. I would feel fortunate at this point to get the console back and have a local company repair the console. I do have a positive from this experience and that is from the people at www.ratepoint.com. They have been responsive and informative. The other response I received from iRepair via rate point gave me some hope that they admitted that the seals could have been broke through trauma to the console.

Again, either iRepair is a scam or the console was damaged during shipping in which it is not irepair's fault or my fault. It is then a matter of if iRepair is a good company and will help in replacing the console due to damaged received during shipping.

irepair squad claim - Day 1
Well, this is my story and I hope others will see it and realize that irepair squad in Peoria, IL is a scam. Their website is slick and professional and the prices listed for the refurbished Xbox 360 appears to be a good deal. Buyers beware... my elderly parents wanted to buy a game console for their grandchildren but a new Xbox360 or PS3 was beyond their budget. So I searched and I searched but everything I found new was to expensive and the refurbished units just scared me. Then somehow on that faithful day I came across irepair squad's website. Tired of searching and with a birthday approaching I sent this information to my parents who purchased then our Xbox 360 with an extended warranty. I received the console on June 13, 2008 and we were able to play the console until June 27, 2008. Hey, at least it worked for two weeks, right? I submitted a ticket that evening and I did not receive a shipping label from irepair until July 1, 2008. I sent the console back on 7/7/08 and irepair received the unit on 7/11/08. I was hoping that since they were going to email me a label I would have received it within a day or two which then I would have been able to ship back while we were gone on vacation, no such luck. I waited for a day or two after I saw they received the console and was expecting an update via my email, again, no such luck. I tried to call but that was impossible, I tried the live chat and that was when I was told the great news that my warranty was voided because the warranty seal on the console was broke! My first response is why would I try to fix or tamper with it since I paid extra money for the extended warranty and second, how could I prove this was not the case. Then I realized this is a scam. They sell you consoles that don't work and then they don't honor their warranties. As of 7/16/08 I do not know if I will receive my console back or if I can get my money back. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau which I have provided a link to their website below and of course they have an unsatisfactory rating from BBB.
